Today I was going to write about different flavors of vodkas there are out there considering a recent trip to the liquor store lately involved me and my friend witnessing a new flavor, cake vodka. It made me think, how interesting and at times, ridiculous, it is that some flavors, or alcoholic things, are created. The ideal behind it is obviously to broaden their product to peoples different likes and dislikes but some of the flavors for some reason leave this idea in my head as if they are going to aim towards the younger crowd, thinking these sweet flavors would entice them more, and those would be the consumers that would purchase their item more often. It did however work for a different product, which has been in the news many times and other types of drinks were following with the same ideal. Energy drinks mixed with alcohol, also known as Four Loko. However, today Four Loko’s are changed to remove the caffeine from the drink because so many young adults were drinking this in excess, blacking out and some even dying. The drink would contain a decent amount of alcohol to the point many people would be intoxicated after just drinking one of them. I’ve heard stories, read articles, and seen news reports of people blacking out after drinking one of them. What makes the matters worse with this drink, is the fact so many young people are the ones drinking this. There is a slim chance you’ll see an adult go to the store and pick up a four loko, then you would a 21 year old who could either be getting it for themselves or someone younger than them. When it comes to this situation, it is even more dangerous because most people at that age do not know the effects of alcohol, what it can do to them, and realize how dangerous that this drink especially is. Luckily, changes were made to the drink and since then, I haven’t heard many negative things still being said of them. I am sure it still is a drink that will definitely make you intoxicated but that mix of caffeine and alcohol is taken away, which takes away a big risk of negative effects from the drink. It seems the companies come up with new ideas to entice a younger generation to drinking. The idea of Four Lokos seems like one of them, and the newest edition is alcohol infused whipped cream. I have tried it before and was disgusted by it, but I know people that are younger and are in love with it. They take something so innocent like whipped cream, and take it to an extreme by infusing alcohol into it. It just seems like these products, and ones similar to it, are a bad idea. It seems like it could just be a way to make money and not truly realize what could happen after drinking these products, or who is getting their hands on it. I think I’ll just stick to beer.

Why is Alcohol an accepted drug in our society?
There seems to be a difference when it comes to alcohol in our country and others. The thing that shocks me most isn't the fact it's become the norm in many countries, but because of how dangerous drinking can be and that many other things that are less harmful receive more punishments then situations involved with drinking. In this blog i will discuss what i have noticed within growing up in a small town in New Jersey, from what i have seen of people and alcohol, and what might need another look at and possibly in the end run, help benefit our country as well as many people.
It seems every day there are movies that come out that involve teenagers or adults drinking way too much and having incidents happen. We can even turn on the news and hear about people that end up in the hospital or even people ending up dead because of excessive drinking or binge drinking. The thing that seems to sadden me by having such a negative impact on our society today especially our children is that of it being glorified in movies. The perfect example for this is the movie The Hangover 2. This is based on not only drinking, but drugs, and to the point the characters in the movie have no memory of what situations happened the night before. It comes down to the fact those younger people will see this, think it’s funny, and might try it themselves, or find it entertaining if it happens for them, not realizing the horrible outcomes that could happen.
It seems our society is the one that tries to control the age limit to have such negative thing happens, even though we tend to glorify it, but it seems we are the ones that really do not have things under control at all. Have any of you drank before you were of legal age? Or even drank too much, that you might of gotten sick, or even ended up in the hospital? We have so many laws and ways to stop underage people from drinking, yet more and more, we hear of parties being busted and teenagers drinking, teenagers getting sick, going to the hospital, and worse dying. Is it acceptable for us as a country to let this continue? Are these laws we have set in place working for us? Or are they making things worse? With the way society keeps going, it’s scary to see what the future might hold for our children, for those we will teach.
There is another thing that boggled my mind that is a tad bit off the path of alcohol, but along with this negative drug affecting our society and children. With more rules and laws being put on our society to have a drinking age be set, and such negative outcomes if they are disobeyed, does it seem this is the cause for young teens finding another “high” from every day substances? Do you think because we have not socially grown up with alcohol as not being a thing to do at a party, but an everyday ideal like many countries, would young teens still be prone to doing things to alter their minds and their lives?
Is it okay for our society to accept drinking alcohol as they do?
